Desiree Alliance (Henderson, NV – $2,000) develops tools and trainings to help sex workers across the United States advocate for themselves. This grant funds their board development as they plan for their second national conference.
Kalpulli Izkalli (Albuquerque, NM – $2,000) mobilizes Xicano and Mexicano intergenerational communities around Albuquerque to improve reproductive and environmental justice and access to healthcare. This grant supports their youth program to combat discrimination against queer and transgender youth.
Movement Strategy Center (Oakland, CA – $1,000) provided scholarships that ensured young women and transgender youth of color were able to attend a Sustainable Organizing Training.
Students Active For Ending Rape (SAFER) (New York, NY – $1,000) empowers students to hold colleges accountable for sexual assault in their campus communities. SAFER has been a leader in the RHJI capacity building initiatives and this grant will support their move to a new office space.
New Voices Pittsburgh:Women of Color for Reproductive Justice (Pittsburgh, PA – $6,000) is a grassroots organization created by and for young women of color to develop new leadership on reproductive issues in Pittsburgh, PA. Through electoral campaigns and service provider education, New Voices connects young women of color to reproductive health resources while broadening the agenda and composition of mainstream reproductive rights organizations in Pittsburgh. New Voices is the first recipient of the Lela Breitbart Memorial Fund.
