As Third Wave’s Operations Officer, Tara Ellison manages Third Wave’s administrative, finance, and human resources matters. 
Before coming to Third Wave, Tara served as Public Policy and Government Affairs Assistant at the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force in Washington, D.C. She also co-taught and co-created a college class on Third Wave Feminisms in 2002, one of the first of its kind in the nation. Tara is a writer, and is also active in LGBT, people of color, size positive, sex worker, and feminist activisms.
Tara graduated summa cum laude from George Mason University in 2002 with a degree in English and Women’s Studies. She enjoys abstract collaging, baking, and road trips.
The Young Women’s Empowerment Project hires 5 youth staff! Beginning 2004, YWEP has been a grantee partner of the RHJI. With Third Wave’s financial and technical assistance support, the organization has made the leap to hire youth as staff as well as raise its budget significantly by leveraging Third Wave’s multi-year grant.
